It's time for Positive Actions!

Today is FUN FRIDAY where we see that our community cares about the students in 
Morgan County Schools!

We are so excited to be back for Positive Actions today, January 3, 2020! Each Fun Friday in Positive Actions, we celebrate the PAWsome community where we live!  Mrs. Hott and Ms. Sheima want YOU to remember to help make Morgan County Schools PAWsitive with YOUR Positive Actions.  It all begins with a HAPPY "thought", followed by choosing an "action" or helpful behavior, that leads to your (and those around you) positive "feeling".  

Be kind!

Be respectful!

Be responsible!

Be safe!

Let's explore and review some safe and respectful Positive Actions that help us to have great schools here in Morgan County!  Join our Positive Actions Cast and Crew from Ms. Kidwell's 5th grade and MCAfter3 over at Warm Springs Intermediate School.  First, they illustrate what NOT to do, then we see Cutie the Cougar intervene, support students, then discuss school expectations to help us all build a safe, responsible, and respectful school community.  Positive Behavior Itervention and Support, or "PBIS", in our schools helps students to reach their academic goals.  And finally, Mrs. Hott has a new song for YOU!  Watch this:

Some days are hard; but with Positive Thoughts, Actions, and Feelings, YOU can make choices to help you and others have a Positive future!

Here are a few questions for you:  
1)  Think about someone in your family.  Tell your teacher one Positive Action that person did recently.
2)  Now, think about someone here in our school community.  What is one Positive Action you saw that you liked?  Next, be sure to tell that person "thanks!" for being Positive!
3)  And, think about someone from your neighborhood or community.  What Positive Action did you see that person do?  
(Share answers with each other.

Remember, it is a Positive Action to follow the Golden Rule because changing the world starts with one student at a time...and that is.....

Cougars that Care...in the Restrooms! 8/30/17

Time for POSITIVE ACTIONS!

Welcome to your 2nd week of the new school year!  

I am so excited to be back for Positive Actions today, August 30th!  We are going to continue to spend some time taking a Cougar Crawl around Warm Springs Intermediate School this week to take a look at our rules and ways in the school hallways, cafeteria, and restroom, and more.

First, let's watch today's Positive Actions Video Vlog from Mrs. Hott:

Oh my goodness!!!  That's the first time Mrs. Hott has had to enter the Boys Restroom!  But to tell you the truth, sometimes BOTH the girls AND boys restrooms have seen negative actions.

Did you notice any negative choices these students made?  Think about what you saw that was NOT a caring school community, then raise your hand and share with your teacher. (If you want or time permits, "pause and talk".  If you  have already encountered this negative behavior, rewind the video and stop at a point that illustrates something that may have been witnessed - "pause". Then, "talk" about how to change the behavior to a Positive choice).

How can these students show that they CARE about our Cougar Community?  (kindness, use manners, don't make a mess, no throwing paper or water, etc....)

When students use Positive Actions and Choices, who has a Positive Feeling?  (the student, the teacher, our parents/family, Mr. Eric, Mr. Todd -the janitors, Mr. Cable)

Did YOU see any actions that were NOT positive choices?  Raise your hand and tell your teacher what was not a positive action. (students using cell phones, not properly sitting at cafeteria tables, removing shoes, etc....)

What do you think would happen if students did not follow the Cougar Ways in the Cafeteria? (more spills, missed meals, more work for Mr. Eric, etc...)

When students follow the Cougar Ways in the Cafeteria, who has positive feelings?  (students, teachers, Mr. Eric, Ms. Creama in the kitchen.....)

When we follow the Cougar Ways in the Cafeteria, it shows that we care and helps us to have a positive school community!  And guess what?  It also works at home too!  When mealtimes are device (cell phone) free, we can begin to have caring conversations with our families!  Try it tonight and tell your teacher how great talking with YOUR family feels!

Cougars that CARE...in the Hallways 8/28/17

We witnessed some actions that were NOT positive, right?  Oh no!  Let's rewind!  Think about what you saw.  Tell your teacher an action that was not positive. (running, riding chairs, pushing, leading to even bullying)

You see, when we follow our "Cougar Ways" in the Hallways, it is not only waaaay safer, but it also eliminates pushing and romping which can cause both accidents and hurt feelings.
