To "fill your own buckets" here are some book ideas from A Mighty Girl:
"After "Inside Out" was awarded an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, its co-director Pete Docter spoke of the need to recognize and respect children's complex emotional lives: "This film was really born from watching our kids grow up, which is not easy... there are days you're going to feel sad. You're going to feel angry. You're going to feel scared. That's nothing you can choose. But you can make stuff. Make films. Draw. Write. It will make a world of difference."
For books to help kids who may be struggling with worry or anxiety during this challenging time, you can find reading recommendations for children, teens, and parents in our blog post "25 Books to Help Kids Overcome Anxiety, Worry, and Fear" at https://www.amightygirl.com/blog?p=22612

For more book ideas about SPRING, check this out from A Mighty Girl:
"Spring is finally here! To celebrate the joys of spring and a world in bloom, we've shared 30 of our favorite children's books about spring and the joys of gardening in a new blog post. The Mighty Girls in these stories love to stomp in spring showers, dig in the dirt, and celebrate the beauty that comes with a world that's being reborn!
To read our blog post, "30 Mighty Girl Books Celebrating Springtime & Gardening," visit https://www.amightygirl.com/blog?p=11501
For more books about KINDNESS HEROES from A Mighty Girl:
"Every pandemic has its heroes -- and during the height of the HIV/AIDS pandemic of the 1980s and 1990s -- a 25-year-old woman in Arkansas became one of the many courageous people around the world who chose compassion over fear. In 1984, Ruth Coker Burks' discovery of a hospital room door with a "big, red bag" over it and her encounter with the dying young man inside changed her life and led her to becoming the final caregiver for hundreds of people dying of AIDS, most of them young gay men who had been abandoned by their families. When Burks learned how many young men were being left to die alone and often were not even being claimed for burial, she recalls thinking, "Who knew there’d come a time when people didn’t want to bury their children?”  Burks estimates that she helped care for over 1,000 people dying of AIDS and even dug the graves for 40 of them herself in her family's cemetery. To read her inspiring story, visit https://www.amightygirl.com/blog?p=27159
For books that help foster children's compassion for others by giving them a visual way to think about kindness, we highly recommend "Have You Filled a Bucket Today: A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids" for ages 4 to 8 (https://www.amightygirl.com/have-you-filled-a-bucket-today) and its sequel "Growing Up With A Bucket Full Of Happiness" for ages 9 to 12 (https://www.amightygirl.com/growing-up-with-a-bucket)  This book is tomorrow's feature!
For picture books about importance of kindness, visit our blog post, "25 Children's Books That Teach Kids to Be Kind," at https://www.amightygirl.com/blog?p=19359

Community that CARES on April 3, 2020 with DAWN BEAL

...where ALL students are UNIQUE and Wonderfully Made!

Time for POSITIVE ACTIONS!
Today is FUN FRIDAY where we see that our community cares about the students in
Morgan County Schools!

We are so excited to be back for Positive Actions today, April 3, 2020! Each Fun Friday in Positive Actions, we celebrate the PAWsome community where we live and meet a new friend who cares about YOU!

Our community has some super amazing folks who are excellent ROLE MODELS and PAWsitive Partners!  In fact, many people are doing a lot these days to show KINDNESS.  Today, we have a super special guest for Fun Friday!  She works at Morgan County's Parks and Recreation, Morgan County Soccer League, and Morgan County Back Pack Program....wow!  That's a lot of Morgan County! Meet our own, DAWN BEAL, a gem in our community who cares about YOU.  Watch this:

Some days are hard (like really hard recently, right?); but with Positive Thoughts, Actions, and Feelings, YOU can make choices to help you and others have a Positive future!

Here are a few questions for you:
1)  Think about someone in your family.  What positive action did they do today?
2)  Now, think about someone in our school community.  What is one Positive Action you saw that you liked?  Next, be sure to tell that person "thanks!" for being Positive!
3)  And, think about someone from your neighborhood, community, or world.  What Positive Action did you see that person do?
(Share answers with each other.)

Remember, it is a Positive Action to follow the Golden Rule because changing the world starts with one student at a time...and that is.....

YOU!

Stand up, and let's sing the MoCo Kids' Creed!
