Have you ever heard the Queen song, "We are the Champions?" Watch this moving video from guitarist Brian May illustrating the devotion all over the world from hospital workers, those caring for others health, and practicing The Golden Rule! This week, you'll see how YOU are a champion too!  How?  When you do positive actions and treat others the way YOU want to be treated! Just like our heroes at hospitals like Valley Health out there caring for the health of our community! How PAWsome that our Positive Word of the Week 36, for May 11-15, 2020, is

GOLDEN RULE!
How can we follow the Golden Rule while staying home and practicing social distancing?  We can send a video "thank you" to Valley Health workers, right here in our community!  Watch today's vlogcast for more info!

And, remember this: When you wash your hands often....that's love too!  And, "staying home" is also hard, we know; but, it is a Positive Action that helps everyone!  Social Distancing can, and will, stop the virus.

Mrs. Hott and Mrs. Sheima are SUPER excited to share Positive Actions with Morgan County students because today, and each Monday, is when we "motor-up" YOUR school week and get ready for more PAWsome days of learning and growing...
"MOTO Monday!"

Fun Friday, Week 36, LOVE on 5/15/2020, w/PAWsome PrinciPALS, Mr. Nida

...where ALL students are UNIQUE and Wonderfully Made!

Time for POSITIVE ACTIONS!
Today is FUN FRIDAY where we see that our community cares about the students in
Morgan County Schools!

We are so excited to be back for Positive Actions today, May 15, 2020! Each Fun Friday in Positive Actions, we celebrate the PAWsome community where we live and meet a new friend who cares about YOU!

Our community has some super amazing folks who are excellent ROLE MODELS and PAWsitive Partners!  And, guess what, also PAWsitive PrinciPALs too!  In fact, many people are doing Positive Actions and that show love for with others, especially our school leaders who are staying in contact with students, families, and staff alike!  That's some BIG LOVE!  Today, we continue a new series called:
POSITIVE PRINCIPALS
Because school is not closed, just the buildings are!
Mrs. Sheima and I found YOUR principals in a zoom room and got to chat and check in!  Let's watch today as we visit with Mr. Nida from Berkeley Springs High School.  And guess what?  While keeping education rolling for children, are you wondering about your principal health and wellness?  What are they doing to balance work and home, just like others.  Let's see:

Next, it's time for some: FAMILY ART THERAPY

Friday 5/15- Today we will need empty paper towel and toilet paper tubes, glue, scissors, crayons, markers, and whatever else your family would like to use to create a skyline. We will create a building out of each tube, then glue them together on the sides, forming a line of houses or buildings or group together to make a castle as shown below. Again, a hot glue gun works best for this project but you can use Elmer’s glue. Note: using Elmer’s may just take a bit longer because it will have to dry. No rules or limits to this project so please have fun with this!!
PLEASE SEND YOUR CREATIONS TO amanda@morganpartnership.org WHEN YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROJECT) 😊

I hope you have enjoyed all of the fun this week!! Please share what you liked best and what you would like me to change for next time. If you have a fun idea, please let me know so that I can incorporate them into another fun activity for your family!

Thank you for your participation,
Ms. Mandi
Some days are hard (like really hard recently, right?); but with Positive Thoughts, Actions, and Feelings, YOU can make choices to help you and others have a Positive future!

Here are a few questions for you:
1)  Think about someone in your family.  What positive action did they do today?
2)  Now, think about someone in our school community.  What is one Positive Action you saw that you liked?  Next, be sure to tell that person "thanks!" for being Positive!
3)  Next, we are going to do a Positive Action Activity together.   It is important to stay connected!  Do you miss your principal?  Send them an email and let them know!  Here is Mr. Nida's:
        mnida@k12.wv.us

Remember, it is a Positive Action to follow the Golden Rule because changing the world starts with one student at a time...and that is.....

YOU!

Stand up, and let's sing the MoCo Kids' Creed!

Value Video Ved, Week 36, LOVE on 5/13/2020

...where ALL students are UNIQUE and Wonderfully Made!

Today is VALUE VIDEO "V"EDNESDAY!

Let's make some FAMILY ART!  Let's peak in and see some fun over at a friends house where the family is creating cool stuff!

Blaine, Brady, and Blake join Dad around the kitchen table.  Here is today's new fun Family Art activity:
Notice the leaf from outside?

Wednesday 5/13- This evening we will be using leaves, crayons and white paper (or light colored paper.)  Take a nature walk with your family and collect flat leaves. They can have holes and bumps. After you gather your leaves, choose a few different colored crayons and peel the paper off so the crayon is smooth. Place the leaf underneath your paper, lay a crayon on its side and rub over the leaf as pictured below in the left picture, creating an image of the leaf on the paper. You can use several leaves and several different colors to create your masterpiece! (PLEASE SEND YOUR CREATIONS TO amanda@morganpartnership.org WHEN YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROJECT) 😊
We are so excited to be back with students for Positive Actions today, May 13, 2020!  On Wednesdays, we will be examining Value Video Vednesdays when we will take a look at positive values to help us grow into a caring community of students in Morgan County Schools.  Next, see a new place in Morgan County where we found POSITIVE ACTIONS. Watch today's VALUE VIDEO VEDNESDAY! Then, stay tuned for the "final 30" seconds and see if YOU know:
"Where in Morgan County Are PAWsitive Actions?"

 That was fun!

Talkin' Tuesday, Week 36, LOVE, w/Ms Hiles

...where ALL students are UNIQUE and Wonderfully Made!
Time for POSITIVE ACTIONS!

Today is TALKIN TUESDAY where we see that our school family of teachers, staff, and administrators care
about the students in
Morgan County Schools!

And, where we will take a Positive moment each week to
"Talk It Out"
and discuss important student issues.

We are so excited to be back for Positive Actions today, May 12, 2020! For each "Teacher Talkin' Tuesday" in Positive Actions, we will meet members of our school family community that care about YOU!

Here is today's video vlog with our special guest from Widmyer Elementary, Ms. Tama Hiles.  Watch this:

Now, for your BRAIN TALK fun, watch this cool stuff bet you didn't know about your brain, and understand your thoughts, actions, & feelings:

That was fun! Next, it's time for Family Art:
Tuesday- 5/12- Today we will need twigs/popsicle sticks, and markers or crayons. With your family create a house. (take a nature walk together and collect items for your “house” creation.” Keep in mind that smaller sticks work well. You are free to build a house of your choosing. It can be very small, very large, a castle, a few houses together to create a town etc. Use your imagination!! There are no rules other than you must use twigs/sticks and glue. If available, a hot glue gun works best for this project.  (PLEASE SEND YOUR CREATIONS TO ME amanda@morganpartnership.org WHEN YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROJECT) 😊

YOUR student assets are what will help you succeed here at school and as you grow up.  When we learn more about each other, it helps to create a caring school climate, which is an essential external developmental asset.

So, guess what that means?!  We want to learn more about YOU too!  For Positive Actions each Tuesday, you will have the opportunity to share something new about yourself, and since we have a break from school, share it with your family.  It is "Talk It Out Time!"

Here is what we want you to do.  I will give you a completely different question each Tuesday, and you will share with your family and friends something brand new or unknown about yourself!  If you want, maybe you can ask your parent to DoJo your answer to your teacher OR you can email us at angie@morganpartnership.org.

So, for today's "Talk It Out," are you ready?  Here is our discovery question:
"What do you LOVE about being home?"

I'll go first.  Hi!  My name is Mrs. Hott.  What I LOVE about being home is not feeling as rushed.  Sure, sometimes I miss being out and about, seeing people and family; but it's actually been kinda relaxing to be home.  And, occasionally there are frustrations, like whose turn to do the dishes, but mostly I really enjoy time with Dannypoo and our kiddos.

We all have more time at home now, right?  Sometimes, we may not really LOVE being home?  That's ok too; we just need to talk it out, right?
YOUR turn!
"Talking it out" starts with one student at a time...and that is.....

YOU!

Sweet ________!"

Do you know????? More than ever these days, we can change the world with LOVE!  How PAWsome that our Positive Word of the Week 36, for May 11-15, 2020, is

LOVE!
Showing LOVE is a Positive Action! How can we show love while staying home and practicing social distancing?  Think about it.....why? Because the longer we are #AloneTogether, sometimes we may not really feel like showing love, right?  But beginning with a positive thought, like LOVE for all, helps us to then have positive actions towards others too; and makes that Golden Rule shine!

And, remember this: When you wash your hands often....that's love too!  And, "staying home" is also hard, we know; but, it is a Positive Action that helps everyone!  Social Distancing can, and will, stop the virus.  It's LOVE!

"Summer STEAM"......watch this for some LOVE

That was PAWsome!  Are YOU ready to "Adopt a Senior"? Show some LOVE and start writing to a senior citizen.  Tell a story, dray a picture, share some LOVE!

Thanks Ms. Carmen....remember, if YOU get a school lunch for the week, Summer has some supplies for YOU!  Email us YOUR parachutes to summer@morganpartnership.org!

Social & Emotional Wellness!
Maybe you've been hearing the word "social distancing" lately?  That means for our physical health, we need to be staying home for a while.  However, if we remember toTHINK positive, we CAN be social remotely with digital media, or #AloneTogether, right?  So, keep reading our Daily PAWsitive Actions Community Vlogcast and Mrs. Hott and Mrs. Sheima will be here with you!

In order to help our emotions be healthy and well, we will be talking about a PAWsome word this week!

Our PAWsitive Action "word of the week" is: love
And in Spanish:  amor
Try to say "amor"!
(TRY THIS in Spanish, click here: love, then click the speaker!  Or, watch here: Say "amor"!)

For Positive Actions, we are learning about wonderful words that build our Social and Emotional Wellness to help us all get along (at home, school, and in the community), raise our student assets, build confidence, and improve our academics!

The word "love" means "a feeling of deep affection for others, unconditional, with no limits or restrictions; also activities or items that are special to a person "

For this week's programming schedule, we will learn more about POSITIVE character values that help us all to follow the GOLDEN RULE!  On the vlogcast this week, we will see some new friends;

It's time for......................

Ms. Mandi, MCP Social Worker, has created a “FAMILY ART-THERAPY WEEK.” Each evening there will be a different activity for your family to engage in together. Art Therapy is a great way to lessen stress during this difficult time as well as bring families closer together by opening up an avenue for conversation and connection while broadening skills for teamwork. The Positive Action Word of the Week is LOVE. FAMILY = LOVE

The materials needed to create these activities most households will have but if you do not and would like to participate, please reach out to Ms. Mandi and I will ensure that you have what you need (to participate in) the activities. I have included pictures of examples to give a clear idea of each project so you have a better understanding in case my directions aren’t very clear, but please feel free to be as creative as you’d like, as this is your family’s artwork.

Monday 5/11- You will need 10 marshmallows and 10 pieces of regular spaghetti. The goal is to work as a family to create the tallest creation you can in 5 minutes. You are allowed to break the spaghetti and pull apart the marshmallows if needed but remember you only have the materials you have so once you break or tear them, they can’t be fixed. Talk with your family to come up with a workable plan ahead of time.  (PLEASE SEND YOUR CREATIONS TO ME amanda@morganpartnership.org  WHEN YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROJECT and please feel free to comment what worked and what didn’t work for your family.) 😊
