Fun Friday, 4/17/2020, w/PETE GORDON

...where ALL students are UNIQUE and Wonderfully Made!

Time for POSITIVE ACTIONS!
Today is FUN FRIDAY where we see that our community cares about the students in
Morgan County Schools!

We are so excited to be back for Positive Actions today, April 17, 2020! Each Fun Friday in Positive Actions, we celebrate the PAWsome community where we live and meet a new friend who cares about YOU!

Our community has some super amazing folks who are excellent ROLE MODELS and PAWsitive Partners!  In fact, many people are doing a lot these days to be CARING to others.  Today, we have a super special guest for Fun Friday!  A former math teacher for Morgan County, and now a CARING member of our Board of Education, PETE GORDON visits today and brings his guitar!  Watch this:

Some days are hard (like really hard recently, right?); but with Positive Thoughts, Actions, and Feelings, YOU can make choices to help you and others have a Positive future!

Here are a few questions for you:
1)  Think about someone in your family.  What positive action did they do today?
2)  Now, think about someone in our school community.  What is one Positive Action you saw that you liked?  Next, be sure to tell that person "thanks!" for being Positive!
3)  And, think about someone from your neighborhood, community, or world.  What Positive Action did you see that person do?
(Share answers with each other.)

Remember, it is a Positive Action to follow the Golden Rule because changing the world starts with one student at a time...and that is.....

YOU!

Stand up, and let's sing the MoCo Kids' Creed!

Kid Counselors CARE, 4/16/2020, Raise the roof.....

...on student assets!
Where ALL students are UNIQUE and WONDERFULLY MADE!

Today is Raising Student Assets Thursday!

I am so excited to be back for Positive Actions today, April 16, 2020! As we continue to improve our positive thoughts, actions and feelings, today we will take a look at raising student assets and a super important positive action word(s):

Caring/Cuidando
What do you think the word "CARING/CUIDANDO" means.
CARING is "DISPLAYING AND SHOWING KINDNESS OR CONCERN FOR OTHERS."

How YOU treat others demonstrates who YOU are!  When YOU follow the Golden Rule, treating others with "care," tells others that you also want them to treat YOU caring too.

YOU have the power to make our school, home, and world, a better place with CARING ACTIONS...it's up to YOU!  Now that we are home for a while, let's try our best to be kind and helpful!  For today, we see "Kid Counselors" lead a "managing emotions" exercise at MC After 3, filmed by student Positive Actions Cast & Crew, followed by a sweet poem from Ms. Knepper for the SARDINE lovers Club!

Who does Mrs. Hott and Mrs. Sheima miss?YOU!
Remember YOU are unique, important, and wonderfully made!

Teacher Talkin Tue, 4/14/202, w/Ms. Didawick

...where ALL students are UNIQUE and Wonderfully Made!
Time for POSITIVE ACTIONS!

Today is TALKIN TUESDAY where we see that our school family of teachers, staff, and administrators care
about the students in
Morgan County Schools!

And, where we will take a Positive moment each week to
"Talk It Out"
and discuss important student issues.

We are so excited to be back for Positive Actions today, April 14, 2020! For each "Teacher Talkin' Tuesday" in Positive Actions, we will meet members of our school family community that care about YOU!

Here is today's video vlog where we have a special treat to cheer you all up,...a friend from Widmyer Elementary:  Ms. Didawick!
(Watch below or click this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=987NY6VOAKY):

That was fun!

Guess what is next?!?  Since our Positive Action Word of the Week is caring, and in Spanish:  cuidando.  We have a question for YOU!

YOUR student assets are what will help you succeed here at school and as you grow up.  When we learn more about each other, it helps to create a caring school climate, which is an essential external developmental asset.

So, guess what that means?!  We want to learn more about YOU too!  For Positive Actions each Tuesday, you will have the opportunity to share something new about yourself, and since we have a break from school, share it with your family.  It is "Talk It Out Time!"

Here is what we want you to do.  I will give you a completely different question each Tuesday, and you will share with your family and friends something brand new or unknown about yourself!  If you want, maybe you can ask your parent to DoJo your answer to your teacher OR you can email us at angie@morganpartnership.org.

So, for today's "Talk It Out," are you ready?  Here is our discovery question:
"How do you feel when others are
CARING for you?"

I'll go first.  Hi!  My name is Mrs. Hott.  I feel POSITIVE when others are caring to me!  Maybe it is a text from family or a FaceTime with a friend, it makes me feel loved when other let me know they care.  And, like that Golden Rule, it makes me want to BE caring too!

YOUR turn!  "How do YOU feel when others are caring for YOU?" Now, tell us what it is!

"Talking it out" starts with one student at a time...and that is.....

YOU!

MoTo Monday, 4/13/2020, CARING

...where ALL students are UNIQUE and Wonderfully Made!

Welcome Morgan County FAMILIES to
POSITIVE ACTIONS!

The Morgan County Partnership is soooo pleased to provide our greater community with continued online Positive Actions programming with our regularly scheduled
"Daily PAWsitive Actions Community Vlogcast"
for families to share Positive Actions together!
Our Social and Emotional Wellness will be supported as we, especially now, continue each day with positive
THOUGHTS, ACTIONS, and FEELINGS!
SO, LET'S GET STARTED!!!!

More than ever these days, we can change the world with KINDNESS!  How PAWsome that our regularly scheduled Positive Word of the Week 32, for April 13-17, 2020, is
CARING!
It may seem hard to be caring as we are all staying at home; but, did you know that helping each other be healthy is CARING!  So remember this: When you wash your hands often....that's CARING too!  And, "staying home" is also hard, we know; but, it is a Positive Action that helps us CARE for others so we all can be healthy!
Social Distancing can, and will, stop the virus.

Mrs. Hott and Mrs. Sheima are SUPER excited to share Positive Actions with Morgan County students because today, and each Monday, is when we "motor-up" YOUR school week and get ready for more PAWsome days of learning and growing...
"MOTO Monday!"
or, "Motovation Monday" where we will see a vlog to get our week "motored-up" with positive thoughts, actions, and feelings!
Today is April 13, 2020!

Get ready to be inspired......watch this! (Go to this link:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xF4KRrBPpE
or watch below):

Social & Emotional Wellness!

Maybe you've been hearing the word "social distancing" lately?  That means for our physical health, we need to be staying home for a while.  However, if we remember toTHINK positive, we CAN be social remotely with digital media, or #AloneTogether, right?  So, keep reading our Daily PAWsitive Actions Community Vlogcast and Mrs. Hott and Mrs. Sheima will be here with you!

For mom & dad: "Social-Emotional WellnessEmotional wellnesssocial skills, and life skills are important tools for children to develop. They affect how children view themselves, interact with others, evaluate challenges, and explore choices. This includes handling stress, negative feelings, and difficult situations positively."

In order to help our emotions be healthy and well, we will be talking about a PAWsome word this week, CARING!

Our PAWsitive Action "word of the week" is: caring
And in Spanish:  cuidando
Try to say "cuidando"!
(TRY THIS in Spanish FOR THE  PRONOUNCIATION, then click the speaker!)

For Positive Actions, we are learning about wonderful words that build our Social and Emotional Wellness to help us all get along (at home, school, and in the community), raise our student assets, build confidence, and improve our academics!

The word "CARING" means "to show kindness and concern for others.  Also, the work or practice of looking after those unable to care for themselves, especially sick and elderly people. " Our world is a CARING planet!

This week, we will learn more about POSITIVE character values that help us all to follow the GOLDEN RULE!  On the vlogcast this week, we will meet Ms. Didawick from Widmyer, see a Science of Kindness video, value Vlog about CARING, join BSHS Kids Counselors for "Managing Emotions" and Ms. Knepper with a sweet poem for you SARDINE CLUB KIDS, and finally, PETE GORDON joins us for FUN Friday.

Positive Actions appear in our schools this year and begins today on a journey together to discover that starting with positive thoughts, we can choose positive actions, and help us to gain positive feelings!  Take a look at our logo:

To celebrate SPRING BREAK MoCo Style,
let's end with A Mighty Girl more book ideas about a cure!
A Mighty Girl Pick of the Day: "Charlotte the Scientist Finds A Cure" by Camille Andros. Creatures all over the forest are getting upset stomachs, and Charlotte the bunny scientist is determined to figure out why! The stumped doctors and scientists dismiss her efforts, but she holds firm to her grandfather's assertion that she will "make a real difference in the world." After some patient interviews and lab tests, Charlotte realizes the illness is caused by carrots contaminated by 'Funky Forest Fungi.' After a clinical trial to test that her new 'customized carrot corrective' cure works, Charlotte has saved the day! This delightful picture book -- which includes a short glossary on terms like "hypothesis” and “quarantine” -- celebrates ingenuity, determination, and the power of girls to change the world for the better. Highly recommended for ages 4 to 8.
