Hear 12th grader, Hayden Fincham, read Suzie the Dressmaker, by Kira Paris-Moore, a gentle look at anxiety and tools to help achieve success and wellness; even when anxious.
From the author: "Anxiety is a very common issue faced by many adults and even children. It is excessive worry about your future because you are plagued by the feeling that something bad will happen. Anxiety is overwhelming and negatively impacts your ability to function at home or school. It is not something that one needs to be ashamed of and in fact, by not acknowledging anxiety, ti can make it worse."
"Suzie the Dressmaker, tells the story of a beautiful young girl who loves fashion but struggles with anxiety. This book demonstrates how Suzy is Able to overcome this issue through the use of coping skills in the form of relaxation techniques. It also contains a positive imagery exercise for kids to practice on their own to help them manage their anxiety."
