2021- FAMILY ART-THERAPY WEEK 16

This weeks projects are going to be related to the Positive Action Word of the Week- INTEGRITY

Monday- Project: GROWING INTEGRITY ONE PETAL AT A TIME

Materials: You will need construction paper of different colors, crayons, colored pencils or something to color with, you can even use watercolors if you choose and something to write with, scissors, glue, and your family to discuss this project.

With your family you will talk about what INTEGRITY means to you. You will make a list of what INTEGRITY looks like: being honest, sharing, being kind, caring, doing what you say you will do etc. Each member will use a sheet of paper, draw a flowerpot, and then add the stem either by drawing it and coloring it in or using construction paper. Then add the center of the flower (your choice of color). You will then add the petals. On each petal you will write one thing from your list to show the importance of INTEGRITY to your family. If you listed the word “honesty,” then also include what you will be honest about and do that for each petal.

Your family can display your flowers in your home as a reminder the importance of INTEGRITY.

There are a few pictures attached to give ideas how to complete this project, but you can be creative with your own imagination as there are no limits.

Tuesday- Project: CREATING A FAMILY INTEGRITY MOTO

Materials: You can use construction paper, or white paper, markers, crayons, colored pencils, and each other to brainstorm your Moto. You can also use decorations for your picture. This is totally up to you to decide! Be creative and use your imagination.

Together, you will sit and think, What Does INTEGRITY Mean to Our Family? What Does INTEGRITY Look Like to You? What Are the Things That You Must do to Live Your Life With INTEGRITY? And then think about what would happen if you did not do those things.

Once you make a list, you will design a picture together, and create your family moto to represent your ideas. There are a few ideas attached below. You can display your creation in your home when you have completed it.

Wednesday- Project: USING NATURE TO CREATE ART- MANDALA

Materials: You will need leaves, sticks, rocks, flowers, grapevine, (anything from nature). You will also need a large piece of construction paper or heavy cardstock. You will need somewhere to lay your items. If you plan to keep this project, you may need glue to fasten your items to the paper.

You and your family will take a 3045-minute nature walk together. You will collect things to use to make a mandala. (when collecting your materials keep in mind that when making a mandala, you will repeat over and over what you are using). You may want to draw it while on your walk, so take paper and pencil with you. Once you have collected your materials, you will take them home or to a place where you can lay them out onto the paper.

Think about the mandala and how it can be incorporated with the lesson on INTEGRITY. What does a mandala do? It repeats itself, right. So, when you are honest, respectful, kind, and show INTEGRITY to others what does that typically make other people do? They copy your good deeds and positivity. It creates a positive cycle of good deeds.

Thursday- Project: SHOWING INTEGRITY TO WILDLIFE

Materials: You will need your family to brainstorm, white paper or construction paper, crayons, colored pencils, watercolors, or anything to color your picture with. You will also need whatever decorations of your choice for your picture: sequins, glitter, googly eyes, etc.

You will sit with your family and discuss ways that you are respectful, and show integrity when outside in your community: do you throw trash in the trashcan, does your family recycle, do you clean your yard from debris and trash, does your family help neighbors to keep a clean yard? Do you help at school or in your community to clean up streams, ponds, or the grounds of the school? How does this affect and help the animals that live around your community and home? Choose an animal that lives locally and create a picture of that animal. You can choose more than one animal if you would like. You will use the materials of your choice to create your animal, then display them in your home as a reminder to always show INTEGRITY.

Friday- Project: MORE THAN ONE RIGHT WAY TO BE CREATIVE
Materials: The materials today are totally up to you! You can use your imagination and let

it run wild.

You and your family members will choose one item: it can be a person, an animal or an object like a tree shown below, or an apple, anything at all. The tricky part is that you will re-create this item 6 different ways.

The lesson is that it does not matter how we are made, what we look like on the outside, we are all equally special on the inside. It is important to learn the concepts of honesty, respect, loyalty and INTEGRITY because those lessons make you who you are on the inside.
