🎨"2021 Family Art Therapy Week 7" with Ms. Mandi, BSW🎨

2021- FAMILY ART-THERAPY WEEK 7

A little history about Art Therapy: Art Therapy was discovered by a British Artist, Adrian Hill in 1942, while she was recovering from tuberculosis.

This weeks projects are going to be related to the Positive Action Word of the Week-

Your CREATIONS can be uploaded and emailed to me at: Amanda.Knepper@k12.wv.us Please check the links on PositiveValuesNetwork.com for other art therapy projects and

Positive Action videos.

KNOWLEDGE- Art therapy helps to improve cognition, improve sensory-motor function, foster self-esteem, promote insight, enhance social skills and reduce conflict.

Monday- Project: BRAIN ART

For this project each member of your family will need a piece of paper and something to draw/color with. Using the pictures attached below you will draw a picture of a brain. Make sure to show the right and left sides (so a top view of the brain). Then you will make a list on each side of things that are stronger qualities for you as an individual. The right brain is more artistic, musical and colorful while the left brain is more mathematical, scientific and numbers. The words you choose for the right side of your brain, you will make colorful and creative. The words on the left side of the brain will be black, grey and white only. Be creative with this project. You can even choose to use pictures in place of words. By completing this project, you are building your KNOWLEDGE and understanding about your own personal strengths and positive qualities.

(PLEASE SEND YOUR CREATIONS TO ME AT amanda@morganpartnership.org WHEN YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROJECT and please feel free to comment what worked and what didn’t work for your family.) 😊

Tuesday- Project: Learn How to Draw an Animal

Today we are going to choose our favorite animal and learn to draw it. You can use online sites to search ways to do this. (Google from your phone). I have attached a few pictures to show how to do this. You will need white paper and a pencil with an eraser. Each member of your family will need their own supplies. You can do the online search together. This will build your skills on how to draw by following steps.

(PLEASE SEND YOUR CREATIONS TO ME amanda@morganpartnership.org WHEN YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROJECT) 😊

Wednesday- Project: Color Wheel

We are going to build our KNOWLEDGE on how to mix colors to make new colors. By mixing primary colors (ROY G BIV) you can make your secondary colors such as pink and brown. You can create a color wheel by using paper, something round to trace to make your circle, a ruler to create your sections, and crayons or something to color with. You can practice mixing these colors if you have paint available. (Example: if you look at the color wheel attached below, and mix the colors RED and YELLOW you will make the color ORANGE. If you mix the colors RED and BLUE, you will make VIOLET).

(PLEASE SEND YOUR CREATIONS TO amanda@morganpartnership.org WHEN YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROJECT) 😊

Thursday- Project: How to Draw a Winter Scene

Today we are going to build our KNOWLEDGE on how to draw a Winter scene. There are a few ideas attached below. You can look online for other ideas to complete this project. Each member of your family will need paper and a pencil with an eraser to sketch. When you have completed your drawing, you can color it to complete your masterpiece. Researching ideas is also a helpful way to build your KNOWLEDGE when you want to learn something new.

(PLEASE SEND YOUR CREATIONS TO amanda@morganpartnership.org WHEN YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROJECT) 😊

Friday- Project: Drawing a UNIQUE Snowflake based on KNOWLEDGE

While learning to draw snowflakes we are also going to see that no two snowflakes are ever exactly the same, just like people. Each snowflake is UNIQUE in its own way, each created differently, just like you!

Being a human, we are all made by different cells that create a different person, in a different way. This means that no two people are exactly the same, even if you are a twin, there are still special differences that make you who you are.

KNOWLEDGE is built by being well-informed and educating yourself on things that you want to know more about or better understand.

All snowflakes are unique, because each ice crystal has a different

path to the ground. They float through different clouds of different temperatures and

different levels of moisture, which means the ice crystal will grow in a unique way.

(PLEASE SEND YOUR CREATIONS TO amanda@morganpartnership.org WHEN YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS PROJECT) 😊 You can also use Amanda.knepper@k12.wv.us to email your projects.

Please Access PositiveValuesNetwork.com for more links, videos, and art projects.

I hope you have a great weekend!! Please share what you liked best and what you would like me to change for next time. If you have a fun idea, please let me know so that I can incorporate them into another fun activity for your family!

Thank you for your participation, Ms. Mandi

πŸŽ™Positive Podcast πŸ₯³ Intellectual Wellness 🍎 Remembering Jeanne Mozier fo...

Watch on Youtube too, see just a tiny bit of her legacy; from sharing "knowledge" for Intellectual Wellness with 6 year olds, to singing "HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOCO" with the County Commissioners, to extinct clay animals made at school and more, we "Remember our neighbor, Jeanne Mozier" for the Positive Podcast.
Honoring an inspiration this week, we take a trip to Morgan County where a woman fostered a new feeling of home, of community. Hear how arts and education not only inspire a generation of young mountaineers but also continues to speak to children today and future MoCo neighbors that chose to settle here much like its' namesake, Daniel Morgan. Today's Positive Podcast is called "INTELLECTUAL WELLNESS: REMEMBERING JEANNE MOZIER AND KIDS DROP SOME KNOWLEDGE ABOUT DANIEL MORGAN". This segment is dedicated to our shining star, Jeanne Mozier, who passed away on Thanksgiving, 2020, and her enormous love for her neighbors....you!
