Thurs Assets, Week 34, EMPATHY, & MC After 3 Kid Counselors

...on student assets!
Where ALL students are UNIQUE and WONDERFULLY MADE!

Today is Raising Student Assets Thursday!

I am so excited to be back for Positive Actions today, April 30, 2020! As we continue to improve our positive thoughts, actions and feelings, today we will take a look at raising student assets with a super important positive action word(s):

empathy/empatia
What do you think the word "empathy" means.
Empathy, and in Spanish empatia, is "the ability to understand and share the feelings of another."

How YOU treat others demonstrates who YOU are!  When YOU follow the Golden Rule, treating others with "empathy," tells others that you also want them to treat YOU with empathy too.

YOU have the power to make our school, home, and world, a better place with POSITIVE ACTIONS,..it's up to YOU!  Now that we are home for a while, let's try our best to be kind and helpful!  For today, see MC After 3 students share some tips to help students relax.  Then, learn "The STOP Song" for when......

"You're mad! M-A-D!
You're unbelievable angry!
You're irritated, agitated,
Frust-er-ated. aggravated.
But...I promise you wont pop!
If only you'll just _ _ _ _!"

Talkin Tue, Week 34, EMPATHY, & Brain Talk

...where ALL students are UNIQUE and Wonderfully Made!
Time for POSITIVE ACTIONS!

Today is TALKIN TUESDAY where we see that our school family of teachers, staff, and administrators care
about the students in
Morgan County Schools!

And, where we will take a Positive moment each week to
"Talk It Out"
and discuss important student issues.

We are so excited to be back for Positive Actions today, April 28, 2020! For each "Teacher Talkin' Tuesday" in Positive Actions, we will meet members of our school family community that care about YOU!  Today, features Morgan County Social Workers, Ms. Becca and Ms. Mandi.

Here is today's video vlog with BRAIN TALK followed by a movie clip about National PAY IT FORWARD DAY!  Watch this:

Now, for your BRAIN TALK fun, watch this cool stuff bet you didn't know about your brain with hosts Dr. Chris and Dr. Xand, "Brilliant Brains/Operation Ouch":

That was fun!

Guess what is next?!?  Since our Positive Action Word of the Week is empathy, and in Spanish:  empatia, we have a question for YOU for National PAY IT FORWARD DAY!  When you "pay it forward," you are doing a positive action for someone else without that person knowing it was you.  Isn't that cool!?!

YOUR student assets are what will help you succeed here at school and as you grow up.  When we learn more about each other, it helps to create a caring school climate, which is an essential external developmental asset.

So, guess what that means?!  We want to learn more about YOU too!  For Positive Actions each Tuesday, you will have the opportunity to share something new about yourself, and since we have a break from school, share it with your family.  It is "Talk It Out Time!"

Here is what we want you to do.  I will give you a completely different question each Tuesday, and you will share with your family and friends something brand new or unknown about yourself!  If you want, maybe you can ask your parent to DoJo your answer to your teacher OR you can email us at angie@morganpartnership.org.

So, for today's "Talk It Out," are you ready?  Here is our discovery question:
"How can YOU pay it forward today?"

I'll go first.  Hi!  My name is Mrs. Hott.  Here is how I can pay it forward today:  Ms. Sheima LOVES Fox's pizza with olives.  I am going to call and order her delivery but not tell her it was me!  (Shhhh.....don't let her know, ok?  It will be our Pay it Forward Surprise!)

Do you think Sheima can eat that much?  LOL!  (By the way, this pizza has pepperoni.  I'll get Ms. Sheima olives!)

YOUR turn!  "How can YOU Pay It Forward Today?" (Remember to social distance, and you'll be anonymous!) Here are some ideas:
**pick some flowers for your neighbor and leave at their door without seeing them
**drop off essential supplies, maybe an extra roll of toilet paper, at a senior citizen's house
**call your grandma or grandpa and sing them a song
**write your teacher and say you miss them
**draw a picture of you with a loved one and mail it to them
**clean the bathroom and don't tell your parent who did it
**do the dishes secretly
**text a classmate you care about them

"Talking it out" starts with one student at a time...and that is.....

YOU!

MoTo Monday, Week 34, EMPATHY, Summer STEAM Day

...where ALL students are UNIQUE and Wonderfully Made!

Welcome Morgan County FAMILIES to
POSITIVE ACTIONS!

The Morgan County Partnership is soooo pleased to provide our greater community with continued online Positive Actions programming with our regularly scheduled
"Daily PAWsitive Actions Community Vlogcast"
for families to share Positive Actions together!
Our Social and Emotional Wellness will be supported as we, especially now, continue each day with positive
THOUGHTS, ACTIONS, and FEELINGS!
SO, LET'S GET STARTED!!!!

More than ever these days, we can change the world with EMPATHY!  How PAWsome that our regularly scheduled Positive Word of the Week 34, for April 27-May1, 2020, is
EMPATHY!
By now, maybe you are also overwhelmed with all the scary news out there and it may seem hard to find Some Good News
and really feel empathy as we are all staying at home.  This week, let's try to understand that there are many in our community on the front lines from hospitals to grocery stores, and if we put ourself in their shoes during the pandemic, imagine how scared they are just doing their jobs every day.  Showing empathy for others is a Positive Action!  So remember this: When you wash your hands often....that's empathy too!  And, "staying home" is also hard, we know; but, it is a Positive Action that helps us show empathy for others so we all can be healthy!  Social Distancing can, and will, stop the virus.

Mrs. Hott and Mrs. Sheima are SUPER excited to share Positive Actions with Morgan County students because today, and each Monday, is when we "motor-up" YOUR school week and get ready for more PAWsome days of learning and growing...
"MOTO Monday!"
or, "Motovation Monday" where we will see a vlog to get our week "motored-up" with positive thoughts, actions, and feelings!
Today is April 27, 2020!

Get ready to be inspired with a special guest from the Morgan County Partnership, Summer Goller hosting
"Summer STEAM......watch this!

That was PAWsome!  Thanks Summer....remember, if YOU get a school lunch for the week, Summer has some supplies for YOU!

Social & Emotional Wellness!

Maybe you've been hearing the word "social distancing" lately?  That means for our physical health, we need to be staying home for a while.  However, if we remember toTHINK positive, we CAN be social remotely with digital media, or #AloneTogether, right?  So, keep reading our Daily PAWsitive Actions Community Vlogcast and Mrs. Hott and Mrs. Sheima will be here with you!

For mom & dad: "Social-Emotional WellnessEmotional wellnesssocial skills, and life skills are important tools for children to develop. They affect how children view themselves, interact with others, evaluate challenges, and explore choices. This includes handling stress, negative feelings, and difficult situations positively."

In order to help our emotions be healthy and well, we will be talking about a PAWsome word this week, empathy!

Our PAWsitive Action "word of the week" is: empathy
And in Spanish:  empatia
Try to say "empatia"!
(TRY THIS in Spanish, click here: empatia, then click the speaker!  Watch here:  Say Empatia!)

For Positive Actions, we are learning about wonderful words that build our Social and Emotional Wellness to help us all get along (at home, school, and in the community), raise our student assets, build confidence, and improve our academics!

The word "empathy" means "the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. "

For week's programming schedule, we will learn more about POSITIVE character values that help us all to follow the GOLDEN RULE!  On the vlogcast this week, we will see some new friends;
MoTo Mon.**Summer STEAM for a pawsome chalk activity;
Talkin' Tue.**Brain Talk with Becca and Mandi;
Value Vlog Ved.**PAWsome Parents with Ms. Nikki, our
Assets Thurs. **MC After 3 Kid Counselors STOP
Fun Friday**PAWsome PrinciPALS** w/Mr. CABLE!
Plus tomorrow is **National Pay It Forward Day!  When we wash our hands, we "pay it forward" to help others stay healthy!
**NEW THIS WEEK**
Do you know a caregiver who may be struggling?  Please share....NEW! Starting April 30th, Thursdays at 1:00, Ms Nikki will host a Parent Playdate Zoom Room for caregivers to gather and well, just chat and relax.  We're all in this #AloneTogether!  Email nccowles1@yahoo.com for Zoom link:

Fun Friday, RESPECT, w/JUDGE MCLAUGHLIN, 4/24/2020

...where ALL students are UNIQUE and Wonderfully Made!

Time for POSITIVE ACTIONS!
Today is FUN FRIDAY where we see that our community cares about the students in
Morgan County Schools!

We are so excited to be back for Positive Actions today, April 24, 2020! Each Fun Friday in Positive Actions, we celebrate the PAWsome community where we live and meet a new friend who cares about YOU!

Our community has some super amazing folks who are excellent ROLE MODELS and PAWsitive Partners!  In fact, many people are doing Positive Actions to RESPECT others health by staying home, right!  Today, we have a very important guest.  Her job is to RESPECT the law and make sure others do too!  Wow!  There's that good 'ole Golden Rule, again! First, GERM WEEK shares some KNOWLEDGE about what a virus is; then, meet Judge McLaughlin.  She CARES about YOU!

Some days are hard (like really hard recently, right?); but with Positive Thoughts, Actions, and Feelings, YOU can make choices to help you and others have a Positive future!

Here are a few questions for you:
1)  Think about someone in your family.  What positive action did they do today?
2)  Now, think about someone in our school community.  What is one Positive Action you saw that you liked?  Next, be sure to tell that person "thanks!" for being Positive!
3)  Next, we are going to do a Positive Action Activity together.           First, THINK:  Who is someone you respect?  Got it?
Next, ACTION:  Tell them you respect them!  Do it!  Say, "I respect you (mom, dad, teacher, sibling, Judge McLaughlin, etc....)" You can say it, email, call, or text them!
Finally, FEELING: How do you feel?  POSITIVE! And so will they!

Remember, it is a Positive Action to follow the Golden Rule because changing the world starts with one student at a time...and that is.....

YOU!

Stand up, and let's sing the MoCo Kids' Creed!

Today is Raising Student Assets Thursday!

I am so excited to be back for Positive Actions today, April 23, 2020! As we continue to improve our positive thoughts, actions and feelings, today GERM WEEK shares more KNOWLEDGE about understanding viruses and we will take a look at raising student assets with a super important positive action word(s):

respect/respeto
What do you think the word "RESPECT/RESPETO" means.
RESPECT is "due regard for the feelings, wishes, rights, or traditions of others."

How YOU treat others demonstrates who YOU are!  When YOU follow the Golden Rule, treating others with "respect," tells others that you also want them to treat YOU with respect too.

YOU have the power to make our school, home, and world, a better place with RESPECTFUL ACTIONS...it's up to YOU!  Now that we are home for a while, let's try our best to be kind and helpful!  For today, we watch a clay animation showing how a virus moves for GERM WEEK.  Then, some students sing about RESPECT in a rock video.  Watch this:

So, for today's "Talk It Out," are you ready?  Here is our discovery question:
"Who is someone you RESPECT?"

I'll go first.  Hi!  My name is Mrs. Hott.  Someone I respect is Mrs. Kristen Tuttle!  Here she is:

Mrs. Tuttle is the Superintendent of Morgan County School.  I respect Mrs. Tuttle because she is a caring person, inspires others, and manages our county schools with a Positive Personality.  She is always ready to listen and encourage others too!  Mrs. Tuttle has ALL the "respect basics"....see:

YOUR turn!  "Who is someone YOU respect?" Now, let them know!  Do a Positive Action!  You can call/text/email/write that person and say:  "I respect you!"

MoTo Monday, RESPECT for 4/20/2020, GERM WEEK!

...where ALL students are UNIQUE and Wonderfully Made!

POSITIVE ACTIONS!

The Morgan County Partnership is soooo pleased to provide our greater community with continued online Positive Actions programming with our regularly scheduled
"Daily PAWsitive Actions Community Vlogcast"

Our Social and Emotional Wellness will be supported as we, especially now, continue each day with positive
THOUGHTS, ACTIONS, and FEELINGS!
SO, LET'S GET STARTED!!!!

More than ever these days, we can change the world with RESPECT!  How PAWsome that our regularly scheduled Positive Word of the Week 33, for April 13-17, 2020, is
RESPECT!
It may seem hard to be respectful as we are all staying at home; but, did you know that helping each other be healthy is RESPECT!  So remember this: When you wash your hands often....that's RESPECT too!  And, "staying home" is also hard, we know; but, it is a Positive Action that helps us show RESPECT for others so we all can be healthy!

Today is April 20, 2020!
This week, we also work on our Intellectual Wellness too as we gain valuable KNOWLEDGE about viruses for
GERM WEEK!

Get ready to be inspired......watch this!

Here is a video for parents suggested by Dr. Kevin McLaughlin.  If you have a teen at home, please watch, then share this valuable video as it discusses the teenagers brain and how the Stay Home Order is difficult, and how important their part is to help stop the virus:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hHkr6kUGEE

In order to help our emotions be healthy and well, we will be talking about a PAWsome word this week, RESPECT!

Our PAWsitive Action "word of the week" is: respect
And in Spanish:  respeto
Try to say "respeto"!
(TRY THIS in Spanish FOR THE  PRONOUNCIATION, then click the speaker!)

For Positive Actions, we are learning about wonderful words that build our Social and Emotional Wellness to help us all get along (at home, school, and in the community), raise our student assets, build confidence, and improve our academics!

The word "RESPECT" means "due regard for the feelings, wishes, rights, or traditions of others. "

This week, we will learn more about POSITIVE character values that help us all to follow the GOLDEN RULE!  On the vlogcast this week, we will meet Ms. Amber Stotler from Widmyer, see GERM WEEK videos with SID the Science Kid, Clay Germ Animation, and Germ Cartoons, value Vlog about RESPECT song, join a rock video "RESPECT", and finally, Judge McLaughlin joins us for FUN Friday.
